Sentiment describes detected tone. “Potential price impact” flags a concrete event and explains a possible mechanism. They are independent signals.
Methodology & limitations
FinBERT, a free financial language model running on the collector, plus context rules for crypto expressions and explicit direction. Model classifications need a score of at least 0.70; this is not a calibrated probability. Rules handle phrases such as “trims gains”, negation and some references to other assets. Mixed means opposing directional phrases. Informational or unclear text has no sentiment badge and does not enter the score. Sarcasm, attribution and implicit opinions can still be missed. Each item shows the classification method and reason.
Each community thread contributes the average of its classified items (+1 Bullish, −1 Bearish, 0 Mixed). The score averages those threads × 100. News uses one weight per deduplicated headline. Above +15: Bullish; below −15: Bearish; otherwise Mixed. Fewer than five classified threads or headlines: a small-sample lean, with no numeric community score. This describes the collected sample, not the whole market. Bars show the share of all publications; grey is informational or unclear.
Official updates are context and do not enter sentiment scores. News uses headlines; posts use title and available feed text; comments use only their own excerpt. Text analysed is available under each item. Similar headlines and repeated text are filtered. Themes are topics, not AI summaries.
Launches, ETF filings, token purchases and fees paid in LINK may receive a separate event tag. Impact tags are event candidates, not predictions or verified causal effects. A community claim remains unverified. No tag means no rule matched, not “no possible impact”. Official day-only dates are positioned at 12:00 UTC on the chart and are labelled as such.
Collections run approximately every three hours. Up to 100 entries per feed and sixteen pages per official section. The 30-day archive accumulates what these sources expose; it is not an exhaustive historical backfill. Public authors are not verified investors.
